Our family’s connection to the South Carolina Children’s Theatre has been nothing short of transformative.  

What began as an opportunity for my daughter, Skye, to explore her love for theatre has become a source of healing, confidence, and joy for our entire family. As a single mother raising children with unique needs, including one with rare diseases, medical complexities and both physical and intellectual disabilities, I’ve witnessed firsthand how access to creative spaces like SCCT can spark light in ways that words can’t always capture.

Through the generosity of SCCT’s scholarship program, Skye has been able to participate in classes that have nurtured not only her talent but also her voice, her sense of belonging and her self-expression. Watching her step onto the stage with courage and excitement reminds me of the power of community and what happens when children are seen for who they are rather than their circumstances.

Her sisters and I have loved cheering her on from the audience, and as a family, we’ve cherished every performance, every story, every friendship, and every smile that has come from this experience. The scholarship has opened a door for our entire family and has continuously shown us the power of community and creativity in a child’s life.
