7:30 Concert: CSO x The Joffrey Ballet

Celebrate the musical legacy of Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson in a showcase of talent and virtuosity. Afterward, witness the brilliance of The Joffrey Ballet, coupled with the sonic beauty of the CSO, in world premiere choreography set to one of Perkinson’s vibrant works.

Specially priced concert tickets start at $40 using promo code AANSEASON. A separate ticket to attend the reception is free.

AAN Member Spotlight: Lauren Banks

Introducing the AAN Member Spotlight, a new monthly feature highlighting members of the AAN community. Our first AAN Member Spotlight features Lauren Banks.

Lauren Banks

What does the AAN mean to you?
I love the AAN! It plays an exceptional role in honoring and elevating Black artists and composers within the organization. It provides a vital platform for showcasing extraordinary artistry while offering enriching experiences, such as meet-and-greets and postconcert events. A space that acknowledges and celebrates this talent is not only important but critically necessary.

Share your favorite memory from your time as a member of the AAN.
My favorite memory was when Samara Joy came to Symphony Center and we got to meet and take pictures with her at the postconcert AAN meet-and-greet! Such a breathtaking performance.

What is a piece of music, art or literature that has resonated with you lately and why?
As an event planner and founder of Lauren Deanne Premier Events, I find myself drawn to the way Solange’s A Seat at the Table intertwines elegance, intention and depth — elements that I aim to bring to life in every experience I create. The album’s rich orchestral arrangements and seamless fusion of genres serve as a reminder of how powerful it can be to blend artistry and purpose in a way that resonates deeply.

Welcome Dr. Samantha Ege to Chicago
