A message from Tracy Stanciel, Chair, AAN Advisory Board

Dear CSO African American Network members,

As we begin our celebration of Black History Month, we take time to reflect on the legacy and excellence of the African American community. One of the ways my family does this is intentionally supporting Black-owned businesses.

This year, as we celebrate AAN at 10, we focus on the power of legacy. Our Black History Month concert features a tribute to Marvin Gaye on February 6, honoring an artist whose music continues to transcend generations and bring joy to audiences of all ages. The evening is inspired by the glamorous, soulful spirit of 1970s-era Marvin Gaye, and we invite you to embrace the theme with your attire. We will also continue our cherished tradition of coming together as a community to sing “Lift Ev’ry Voice.”

One of the most meaningful ways we can honor those who paved the way is by clearing the path for the next generation — our legacy. With that in mind, please read below to learn more about opportunities to support young musicians through IMPACT: Showcasing Education & Community Programs of the CSO.

Thank you for your continued dedication to excellence and your support of the CSO African American Network.

Tracy A. Stanciel
Chair, African American Network Advisory Board

Invest in Chicago’s young musicians.

Your support of IMPACT helps local students access life-changing music education through the CSO’s Negaunee Music Institute.

On Sunday, March 15, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association hosts IMPACT: Showcasing Education and Community Programs of the CSO. A special concert and fundraising benefit, IMPACT features performances by the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, students from the Percussion Scholarship Program, musicians from the CSO and more.

Co-chaired by League member Margo Oberman, CSOA Trustee Paul Watford and Overture Council president Matthew Fry, the IMPACT Host Committee aims to raise $200,000 in support of these programs. The African American Network is working to help raise $5,000 to support IMPACT and the CSOA’s education and community engagement department, the Negaunee Music Institute. The Negaunee Music Institute is committed to transforming lives in the greater Chicago area, across the United States and around the world. Learn more about the profound effect of its many programs.
