Everyman & Playhouse theatres
For Liverpool theatre makers

Fri 28 May 2021

Hello

The Everyman has been open for rehearsals, digital performances and YEP activity for several weeks, but on Monday we open for audiences and live performance for the first time since our Christmas Cabarets back in December. The YEP Directors Festival is a mix of new work and established, award-winning plays, directed by this year’s cohort of directors from our Young Everyman and Playhouse programme.

You will notice some safety measures when you come back to the theatre, including temperature checks and timed entry and socially distanced seating. We are regularly updating our website with the steps we’re taking to keep audiences, staff and artists safe as we open up. You can visit the website here for more information. We would really appreciate feedback on how we’re doing too.

In this email we have our usual updates, round up of some opportunities and some what’s on notices. Remember you can email us at newworks@everymanplayhouse.com with your own updates to include, or with any questions you have for us.

Thank you and we hope to see you soon!

Frank (New Works Associate) & Ashlie (Programmer)

Updates

• This week saw the anniversary of the murder of George Floyd, a devastating event that triggered global marches and support for the Black Live Matter movement and mainstream conversations around police brutality. The events of last summer prompted wide-spread conversations around how the arts and culture sectors must change to become more equal, representative and inclusive. Arts and cultural organisations in Liverpool have come together to make a commitment to racial justice and meaningful change. Read the joint statement HERE on Culture Liverpool, and our own commitment HERE.
