This Friday, SFJAZZ continues its five-part celebration of legendary saxophonist Wayne Shorter featuring two modern-day jazz greats and former members of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Branford Marsalis and Terence Blanchard, performing with Wayne Shorter's bandmates Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, and Brian Blade. This is an exclusive one-time-only broadcast of an all-star tribute concert that took place in 2019 at the SFJAZZ Center.

Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Branford Marsalis, Terence Blanchard and other special guests will also be participating in this week's Fridays At Five chat!

For this special broadcast, 100% of Tip Jar proceeds will go to Wayne Shorter for his ongoing medical needs.  Consider making a donation now and/or during the broadcast.

ABOUT 'FRIDAYS AT FIVE'

Born out of the COVID-19 crisis as a way to support musicians in need and to keep SFJAZZ strong for the future, Fridays at Five is a new membership-based online series that brings people closer to the music through engaging hour-long broadcasts of exclusive SFJAZZ Center concerts that stream every Friday at 5 PM PT. Conceived to create a unique shared experience, each event features real-time chats with artists, jazz fans, and SFJAZZ Members.

COCKTAIL RECIPE & UPDATE

B-SIDE'S SPICY PASSION COGNAC COCKTAIL RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
1 oz Cognac
1 tsp Grand Marnier
2 tbsp rooibos
1 tsp cane sugar syrup
3.4 oz sparkling water

Steep rooibos in hot water for 4 mins. Let cool and pour and freeze in the ice cube tray. Combine cognac, Grand Marnier, and cane sugar into a glass. Add sparkling water and finish with two rooibos ice cubes. Garnish with an orange slice.

This week's Friday's at Five streaming concert in celebration of Wayne Shorter will feature tenor saxophone great Branford Marsalis, who, like Wayne Shorter, once held the tenor saxophone chair in drummer and bandleader Art Blakey's legendary Jazz Messengers. We look back at Branford's 2012 San Francisco Jazz Festival performance at Grace Cathedral, which was recorded and released by OKeh Records in 2014.


FRIDAYS AT FIVE STREAMING TIPS

SFJAZZ's new online concert series Fridays at Five takes place every Friday at 5PM PT, and is available to all SFJAZZ Annual Members and Digital Monthly Members — Here are some helpful tips!

1) Remember to login first
Members and Digital Members need to login first to view the online concert. We recommend logging into the SFJAZZ website 30-45 minutes prior to 5PM PT.

2) The one-hour concert will be streamed from 5-6PM PT
Unfortunately, on demand access is currently unavailable. We're working on rebroadcasts in the future.

3) We highly recommend streaming these concerts using these browsers: Chrome, Firefox, and Safari
You can download the latest version Google's Chrome bowser here.

4) Make sure your annual Membership or monthly Digital Membership is active
After you login to the website, visit the 'My Membership' tab in the My Accounts section to make sure your membership has not lapsed.  

5) Stream the concert at SFJAZZ.org/watch
Once you're logged into the website, visit the URL above, and you'll see the video player.

6) The embedded YouTube video player will start automatically. If it doesn't, click the red 'play' button.
Make sure the sound settings on your computer and the video player are "on" (you can do this by hovering over the video player screen). Use Cast or Airplay to watch YouTube on TV.

7) Consider donating to the Tip Jar
