COVID-19 Information

Black Country Living Museum's (BCLM) priority has been to create a safe and engaging environment for both visitors and staff. We have made some important changes to the Museum experience to keep everyone safe. These measures include:

Limiting the number of education groups and general visitors.

Providing hand-sanitiser stations around the Museum.

Asking people to maintain social distancing.

Asking people to keep left and follow route markings.

Enhanced use of PPE and asking people to wear a face covering where required.

Enhanced cleaning on the site.

We have created a short video which outlines the general measures on the site. A risk assessment has been undertaken to ensure safety for both you and your pupils.

Outreach

If you are unable to come to the Museum, why not bring the Museum to your school? We have a wide range of our activities which are now bookable as outreach days to bring history to life for your pupils.

Forging Ahead update

BCLM is changing. Over the next three years, we'll be creating a new major historic 1940s–60s development, new learning spaces and a brand new visitor centre. Our exciting £23m project, BCLM: Forging Ahead, will take our story up to the closure of the Baggeridge Coal Mine in 1968, which brought about the end of a unique era for the Black Country. We will use real things, real people and real stories to engage and inspire visitors of all ages to learn about the region's heritage, its impact on the world and its relevance today.

Don’t worry! We’re staying open during the build phase. In fact, from September 2020 you’ll be able to see some of the new buildings taking shape.
