Florida Grand Opera’s exciting production of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette stars French tenor Sébastien Guèze as Roméo. Sébastien sang his first Roméoin 2008 with the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and has been called “one of the most promising young tenors of his generation” by Opera News. He has also received numerous honors, among them the Audience Prize in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition and the “Revelation of the Year” award at the Victoires de la Musique ceremony in 2009.
Sébastien made his Florida Grand Opera debut in David DiChiera's Cyrano, where he unveiled a new aria for the role of Christian, delivering it with "a real leading man's voice … [and] a depth and emotional edge that gave the character integrity," according to South Florida Classical Review.
