Artist Change: Liza Ferschtman to perform Barber Violin Concerto with FWSO November 8, 9, and 10

FORT WORTH, TX— November 6, 2019 The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra announces an artist change for the concert scheduled for November 8-10 at Bass Performance Hall. Violinist Liza Ferschtman will replace Chloë Hanslip, who is unable to perform this weekend due to unforeseen circumstances. The program, to be conducted by Garrett Keast, will remain unchanged and includes Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Barber’s Violin Concerto, and Copland’s Symphony No. 3

Performances are Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 PM at Bass Performance Hall. Tickets range from $22 - $97. About Liza Ferschtman, Violin

Dutch violinist Liza Ferschtman is renowned for her passionate performances, superlative musicianship, and imaginative programming. Following her sensational performance with the Budapest Festival Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall in 2013, she made her U.S. orchestral debut in 2015 with the Dallas Symphony and Jaap van Zweden, playing the Bernstein Serenade. During the following season, she debuted with the San Francisco Symphony under Edwin Outwater, performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto.

Other recent debuts include the Phoenix Symphony under Tito Muñoz (Brahms Violin Concerto); the Omaha Symphony (Bernstein’s Serenade) under Thomas Wilkins; Kalamazoo Symphony (Barber Violin Concerto) under Stilian Kirov, and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico, performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto.

As part of this year’s Brussels Philharmonic season, Leonard Bernstein: 100 Years of Magic, Ms. Ferschtman performed the Serenade under the baton of Stéphane Denève. Her extensive international career includes performances with virtually every orchestra in The Netherlands, including numerous appearances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. During the 2018/2019 season, she will perform with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic and will also make her debut in Norway with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. Other international engagements have included the philharmonics of Bergen, Bremen, Essen, Hong Kong, London, Malaysia, and Warsaw, as well as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Malmö Symphony, Orchestre National de Belgique/Brussels, Philharmonic Orchestra of Minas Gerais/Brazil, Nuremberg Symphony, Radio Symphony Orchestra of Prague, Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, Staatskapelle Weimar, Symphony Orchestra of Flanders, and the Yomiuri Nippon Orchestra.

An avid chamber musician and recitalist, Liza Ferschtman has performed at such venues as Alice Tully Hall/New York, the Library of Congress/Washington, Wigmore Hall/London, the Musikverein/Vienna, and Beethoven Haus in Bonn. Since 2007, she has been Artistic Director of the Delft Chamber Music Festival.

The daughter of Russian musicians, Ms. Ferschtman received her formal training at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Herman Krebbers, and the Curtis Institute of Music with Ida Kavafian. In 2006, she received the Dutch Music Prize, the highest accolade awarded to a musician in The Netherlands.
