This fall marks the 10th anniversary of OneBeat, a series of revolutionary international musical collaborations led by Found Sound Nation. OneBeat uses music to build bridges across geographies, nationalities, and cultures, giving meaningful opportunities to musicians from a wide spectrum of disciplines and traditions.
Montalvo has hosted two groups of OneBeat artists — in 2014 and 2015 — and we were scheduled to be a host again this year until the pandemic hit. We look forward to their return in the future, but meanwhile, in honor of this 10-year anniversary, we are excited to showcase new groundbreaking work online in a free live streaming marathon concert on Sunday, November 15 from 9am-4pm.

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Mosaic Silicon Valley as we join in the conversation series Making the Mosaic. As part of the series, we are co-presenting Hummingbird Circle: Ohlone Voices in partnership with the Confederation of Ohlone People and the San Jose Museum of Art.
Making the Mosaic is a thought-provoking series of free virtual events that explores American diversity by engaging with community members to share what being an American means to them.
The first of event focusing on the Ohlone community will be this coming Thursday, November 12 at 6pm. Moderators Charlene Eigen-Vasquez and Priya Das will talk with Ohlone community members, and will be joined by photographer Ruth Morgan and writer-historian Janet Clinger, who documented the efforts of three generations of Native Americans in California committed to keeping their culture alive and thriving.
For 14,000 years, the ancestors of contemporary Ohlone people served as caretakers of this region. This is a unique opportunity to meet some of the culture-bearers who today continue to carefully maintain and propagate the Ohlone traditions and practices.
The DILATE Ensemble is an audio visual collective featuring Carole Kim, Gloria Damijan, Scott L. Miller, Luisa Muhr, Jon Raskin, and featuring special guest Paul Chavez. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kim began developing a new intimate venue for visual artwork underneath her own kitchen table. This space became a site for micro video installations animated by musicians and performers who create improvised soundscapes from afar.
This remarkable live performance will be followed by a discussion about the importance of creating shared imaginative and collaborative spaces, how memories can interweave within a collective dreamspace, and what we will remember about living through 2020.
