For the month of April, the Eisemann Center welcomes this year’s Cottonwood Art Festival’s Emerging Artists! Each year, the international award-winning fine art festival offers a unique experience for local, hand-selected Senior High School age artists. The Emerging Artist Program gives students the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Eisemann Center, sell their work at the Cottonwood Art Festival alongside professional and renowned artists, and earn placement awards and scholarship money for their continued education. The program was created to recognize the talent of young artists in our community and grant them a respectable introduction to the industry, giving them a taste of the experience of a career artist.
In this combination of art and education, students are encouraged to express and push themselves creatively and learn the process of exhibiting. Interested students must submit a formal application, an artist statement, and produce images of their work to be reviewed by a jury of professionals. Only ten students were selected.
This year’s Emerging Artists:
- From Richardson High School: Ellie Schneider, Daijah Smith, Lana Wong
-From J.J. Pearce High School: Elia Villasenor, Mako Weathers
-From Lake Highlands High School: Leira Myers, Banner Roby, Charlotte Williams, Max Young
-From Berkner High School: Ray Hunter
