Welcome to our fortnightly round up of opportunities, what’s on and updates. We are very excited to be back with the YEP directors’ festival and hope to be welcoming plenty of you to new writing next week with Y’MAM.
Whilst we wait on the government’s social distancing timeline updates, it does feel that theatre is back, the sun is out and we are excited!

• We are awaiting the government’s announcement in the next few weeks as to whether social distancing will be relaxed on the 21 June. The decision will not affect you coming to see shows as we will be staying socially distanced in our auditoriums for a little longer, it does have ramifications for rehearsals and how we use our buildings. Our priority, as it has been throughout this hard time, is the safety of our audiences, artists and staff and taking this next step safely together.
• We have been LOVING the photos of happy faces at our artistic advisor Stephen Fletcher’s Pop up Panto school tour. Follow the adventures of this crew of local faces, as they take Cinderella in a van to schools across Merseyside bringing much joy and a lot (and we mean a lot) of silliness.
• We are have put our a Casting Call Out for our new Playhouse show Love, Liverpool. We are looking for a Female actor with Middle Eastern or Arab heritage, Liverpudlian, playing age 18 to early 30s. The performer will be playing a number of roles throughout the show so we are looking for performers who are able to multi role. We are looking for people that have worked as professional performers previously as well as those who have not had that professional experience but have the aspiration to perform professionally. You must be available from Monday 28 June to Saturday 14 August 2021 and can download full details including information on how to apply.

• As we continue to welcome audiences back, we are very excited about our trio of very different one person shows opening over the next few weeks. Subjects of toxic masculinity, love and civil rights are featured in a series of solo shows at the Everyman & Playhouse theatres, as Y’MAM, Woke and The Greatest Play in the History of the World highlight the power and intimacy of one actor alone on a stage, telling great stories. Check out this blog for more – and to book in!
• If you’ve taken a stroll down Hope Street this week, you might have wondered what’s going on in our Everyman windows. We’re really pleased to announce that we are part of an extension of Peter Walker’s Peace Doves art installation. If you missed his beautiful installation for Light Night in the Anglican, you still have a chance to catch it there until 31 August.
• The latest chapter in 20 Stories High’s ground breaking project Touchy - Sophie’s Story has been released on their online platform.
