We are excited to welcome our friend and 1982 Gold Medalist Mihaela Martin back to Indy. She will perform next Tuesday to deliver a heartwarming program with pianist Chih-Yi Chen entitled Dances and Romances, featuring music by Grieg, Stravinsky, Amy Beach, Clara Schumann and Enescu.
This performance takes place Tuesday, January 27 at 7:30 PM at the Indiana History Center, and will also be livestreamed (on-demand video will be available through Friday, February 6). We thank Streaming Sponsor Marian Pettengill for making this livestream possible.
Ms. Martin is currently on tour throughout the U.S., and will be giving masterclasses at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, the Manhattan School of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music.

Join us for an extraordinary co-production between the IVCI and the American Piano Awards as we present 2022 IVCI Gold Medalist Sirena Huang and 2017 APA Winner Drew Petersen. Tickets will go quickly for this performance, which takes place at 7:30 PM on Thursday, February 19 at the Indiana Landmarks Center.
This special program spans centuries and styles including Beethoven’s “Spring” Sonata to ragtime king Scott Joplin’s Bethena and Elite Syncopations. Highlights include John Adams’ mesmerizing Phrygian Gates for solo piano and Gabriela Frank’s Sueños de Chambi. At the heart of the evening is the world premiere of Sirens and Cathedral by acclaimed composer Daniel Bernard Roumain, a new work commissioned by the IVCI and Sirena Huang.
Since 1986, the Juried Exhibition of Student Art (JESA) has been one of Indiana's largest and most exciting art programs for art students in grades 1-12. Held alongside each quadrennial competition, JESA brings together the visual, literary and performing arts, with thousands of students participating. In 2026, JESA is expanding to Ohio for the first time, thanks to the Cynthia P. Matthews Family Foundation. With $18,000 in prizes per state and 30 Grand Award Winners selected in both Indiana and Ohio, young artists will see their work showcased during - and after - the Competition!
