We are just a few weeks shy of one year since the Bay Area first entered shelter-in-place. I am sure many of us did not expect that twelve months later we would be in similar circumstances.    

When we began rescheduling our Carriage House performances last year, we were anticipating that springtime would allow us to host indoor events again. Unfortunately, given the ongoing performing arts venue health mandates, this is not a possibility.

But we are in a much more hopeful position than before.

Last month, Dr. Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, said it was likely that a return to indoor performing venues "will occur some time in the fall of 2021, so that by the time we get to early to mid-fall, we can have people feeling safe performing onstage as well as people in the audience."

With this in mind, I want to let you know that there will be no live Carriage House shows for the remainder of the current season. I am hopeful that as vaccinations continue to roll out and case counts decrease, we can bring live music back to Montalvo by the end of 2021.

As we near a year without significant event revenue, Montalvo is relying on the generosity of donors like you more than ever to ensure that Silicon Valley has access to the cathartic, healing power of the arts. As guidance from the county continues to evolve, it is our hope to be able to present live outdoor music before indoor venues can officially reopen. I know all of us are longing for a return to life before the pandemic and all of the good things we miss—we just have to hold on a little bit longer.

It will be such a welcome celebration—to gather in our beautiful, historic Carriage House to enjoy our stellar concerts together.
