Workshops

We’ve got two chances to learn from some of the best around, with a directing workshop from Amanda Huxtable (Takeaway) and esteemed writer for stage and screen Sally Abbott discussing the process of making a new TV show.

Staging for a People and a Place: Directing Workshop with Amanda Huxtable

Meeting points for local artists

There are regular ways you can meet us, and other artists, across the year.

We’re running:

    - Creative co-working
    - Open houses
    - Workshops with Everyman & Playhouse staff
    - Freelancers’ mixers

    Creative Co-working

We’re now hosting regular co-working days for local creatives, taking place on the first Thursday of the month.

The next co-working day is for directors and makers – from 11.30am on Thursday 1 May.

I’ll be there initially with some prompts for discussion, but then will leave you to it!

So grab a pal and come down to meet, chat, rant, plot and dream together.

    Next dates will be:
    - 5 June, from 11.30am. Producers.
    - 3 July, from 11.30am. All creatives welcome!

    Open House

Every month, one of our in-house teams sets up and works in the Everyman Street Café – and you’re welcome to come in and chat!

These regular drop-ins are a nice, informal way to meet different members of the Everyman staff, introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have.

Next up, members of the Events team will be available from 1-3pm on Tuesday 13 May.

The topics of conversation are totally up to you, but this team specifically would be well-placed to discuss:

    - hiring our space Downstairs at the Everyman
    - putting on events with us
    - negotiating commercial agreements with buildings.

June’s Open House will be with our Marketing team, who can talk to you about all things communications.

Sign up for our next Mixer, which will be Tuesday 29 April, during previews for Takeaway.

As usual, we’ll try to wrangle a member of the creative team to come and chat, and there’ll be a discount for seeing the show that evening as well.

In particular, this’ll be a good one for anyone with an interest in new writing and local stories with national reach – plus all the usual joy of meeting new artists in Liverpool, having free wine, etc.

Remember: you can book a £10 ticket for the show on this night by using the code MIXER10.

    Linbury Prize Drop-in Sessions

    Let’s talk about design!

The National Theatre’s Skill Centre is organising informal drop-in sessions for anyone interested in a career in stage design – and you’re welcome to attend whether you're just discovering design, or taking your first steps as a professional designer.

Each session will be attended by mentor designers with local and national connections, Linbury Prize committee members and National Theatre Skills Centre representatives.

You are invited to ask any questions you may have about a career in stage design. The format may vary depending on participant responses to this sign-up form.

Applications for the Linbury Prize, a nationwide award for emerging theatre designers, will be taking place in Summer 2025. These sessions are an opportunity to find out more information about the Linbury Prize, as a prospective candidate or otherwise.

    Sign up here.
