Countdown to Lights Out

Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light

We are less than a month away from the closing of our spectacular Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light exhibition.

If you haven't seen it yet -- or if you want to see it again -- be sure to get your tickets now before the event closes on Sunday, March 17!

And for those young professionals out there, a great way to see the show is to join our Mix & Mingle networking event on Thursday, March 7 at 5:30pm. You'll get small bites, beer, and wine, make some art, and have a chance to wander the grounds with fellow young art lovers.

When you come, don't forget to share your photos using #MunroMontalvo or #StoriesInLight! With the right angle and inspiration you can capture the works like our recent photo contest winner Andrew Eggers (whose beautiful image is pictured above).

Take a Trip to Hawaii
with Henry Kapono

Henry Kapono

Join us on Sunday, March 24 at 7pm as gifted Hawaiian performer Henry Kapono takes the Carriage House Theatre stage backed up by the Dukes On Sunday Band and special guest Johnny Valentine (uncle of Bruno Mars!).

Kapono is a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and composer whose accolades include 14 Na Hoku Awards and a Grammy nomination. His original songs celebrate his love for his family and express his pride in his Hawaiian culture. Every Sunday, on the beaches of Waikiki, he fronts the rocking Dukes on Sunday band for their lively, "Beach Boys paradise" show.

Johnny Valentine is a frequent collaborator and a celebrated performer in his own right, fronting several bands and launching the career of his nephew, superstar Bruno Mars.

If you're a fan of Hawaiian music -- or just a fan of fun -- you won't want to miss this show!

Tour a Private Art Collection

ArtVenture: Hornik Collection

Did you know donors at the $1,000 level and above receive exclusive invitations to tour local private art collections? These ArtVentures are one of the unique perks of being a supporter of Montalvo, and we'd love for you to join our invitation list!

The private collections you'll visit showcase works by famous, influential, and up-and-coming artists. Our next tour is the Hornik Collection on Tuesday, February 26, where you'll see works by Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Joan Brown, Elizabeth Peyton, Chantal Joffe, and Hung Liu.

And as a special incentive through the end of February, donors at the $1,000 level will also be invited to our Chicago ArtVenture this September 26-30 to experience more private art collections and the Chicago Architecture Biennial!

To get your own invitation to these amazing art experiences, contact our Director of Development, Emma Moon.
