Love jazz? If so, you do not want to miss out as Quincy Jones presents the Justin Kauflin Trio in our intimate, indoor Carriage House Theatre on Thursday, April 2 at 7:30pm.
Kauflin is an undeniably rare talent. His “technically brilliant and intellectually innovative” music moves critics to effusive praise and captivates audiences with its pure, sparkling joy. After losing his sight at age 11, he devoted himself to the piano, and soon received top honors at festivals across the country. He was mentored by jazz great Clark Terry in the critically-acclaimed 2014 documentary film Keep On Keepin' On, and has since released four albums featuring dozens of original compositions.
At Montalvo, we are working to shape the educational landscape of Silicon Valley. Our believe is that the arts foster greater cognitive, social, and emotional capacity, and build engaged citizenship among our greater community.
Our innovative arts education programs are made possible with the generous support of donors like you. Your gifts help us partner with Bay Area schools to provide integrated learning opportunities, offer on-site classes for adults and summer camps for kids, host professional development opportunities for educators like this Saturday's Arts In Your Classroom conference, and more.
If arts and education are your passion, a gift to Montalvo represents the perfect opportunity for you to invest in our community.
Try out a new ceramics technique in a two-session class (March 19 & March 26 from 2:15-4:15pm) with instructor Brian Caponi: Cast Assemblages.
You'll create a range of functional objects by using the processes of slip casting and press molding. Take manufactured molds and plaster slabs, then cut apart and demolish them, creating fragments to be reimagined and reassembled. These new plaster hybrid molds will yield incredible collaged ceramic forms! You'll have fun and come away from class with your own unique pieces.
Montalvo patrons are invited to take 50% off tickets (normally $60) to see An Evening with C.S. Lewis starring David Payne at the Montgomery Theatre in San Jose this coming March 11-15 by using the promo code WARDROBE.
Described by critics as “extraordinary,” “a must-see,” and “a master class,” An Evening with C.S. Lewis is an enthralling theatrical experience that has led thousands to discover (or rediscover) the continuing impact of a man who died over 50 years ago and whose collected works made him one of the literary giants of the 20th century.
