Business Leaders for the Arts February 8th Luncheon Recap

In February, Womble Carlyle hosted our most successful Business Leaders luncheon to-date. Over 100 representatives from our corporate partners packed the Booth Playhouse stage!

Tony Award winning Producer and Casting Director Megan Larche Dominick “peeled back the curtain of Broadway” to give an insider’s look at how performances like The Lion King, Grease, and A Chorus Line are cast.

Please join us for our next luncheon May 11th in the lobby of Knight Theater (11:30 AM-1:00 PM) as Carolinas Healthcare System hosts Jed Bernstein, former President of The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Tony Award winning Producer of Hair and Driving Miss Daisy.

Program Spotlight: Broadway Jr. • April 3-5 (Knight Theater)

The Broadway Junior Theater Celebration offers an enthusiastic, educational environment for students and teachers to interact with thousands of others who share their passion for musical theater.

Without corporate support, many of these students would never have a chance to experience life enriching opportunities and to find success… May the curtain never rise to an empty stage that could have been filled with some of the best because you and I did not give of our time, talents, and resources to make dreams come true.”

– Frank Casstevens, Arts Coordinator: Benton Heights Elementary

Blumenthal in the News: Blumey Awards Nominated for MidSouth Emmy!

Last year, Blumenthal Performing Arts partnered with WTVI-PBS Charlotte and Wells Fargo to broadcast The Blumey Awards Ceremony. In only our first year entering footage, the Blumey broadcast was nominated for a MidSouth Region Emmy Award in the Arts Category! While The Blumey Awards did not win this year, it was an honor to be nominated and to have our program highlighted at such a prestigious event. This year’s Blumey Awards take place May 21st in Belk Theater. Tickets on sale now.

Blumenthal in the Community: Charlotte Jazz Festival 2017

Sponsored by the Leon Levine Foundation, The Charlotte Jazz Festival returned to uptown (April 20-23). Led by world-renowned musical director Wynton Marsalis, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra made Jazz Fest 2017 an unforgettable weekend for the region.

"The event had it all: concerts, classes, exhibits, panel discussions, free performances, and more… Cultural programs like the Charlotte Jazz Fest help brighten our city and make it such a special place.”
