Registration is now open for our 2019 Arts in Your Classroom Conference: A Catalyst for Collective Wellness, on Saturday, March 2 from 9am-4pm.
Through the lens of different creative practices and pedagogical techniques, we will examine the concept of radical healing, wellness of self and community, overcoming individual and collective trauma, and cultivation of shared well-being and thriving communities.
This year's workshop sessions include: "Telling Your Story Through Textile Art" with presenter Marquis Engle; "Dance, Race, and Equity" with Cherie Hill; "Release and Rejuvenation through the Arts" with Lacey Morris; and "Roots and Empathy through Rap, Poetry, and Beatbox" with Carlos Aguirre. Attendees will choose two sessions and receive lunch in between.
In addition, you'll hear inspiring presentations, see dynamic performances, and have an opportunity to network with peers. We hope you can join us!

As a gesture of support for our friends affected by the ongoing government shutdown, we are pleased to offer up to four complimentary tickets to Federal employees who wish to visit our spectacular Bruce Munro at Montalvo: Stories in Light exhibition during their furlough.
To claim these tickets, please arrive at the Montalvo shuttle stop (West Valley College, Parking Lot 1) between 6 and 8pm any night the show is open, and present your Federal ID card.
Join us in the intimate historic Villa on Sunday, February 10 at 3pm for another inspired performance by our resident chamber ensemble, The Saint Michael Trio, as they present a new program entitled Child Prodigies!
In this lively recital, you'll hear music by composers who were (and are) other-worldly child prodigies. Compare early compositions to mature ones, and judge for yourself whether genius came fully-formed or grew with time. The setlist includes works by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and today's child prodigy sensation, 13-year-old Alma Deutscher.
The Trio is frequently hailed for making their concerts interesting, accessible, and oftentimes funny, so don't miss their latest!
Next Monday, January 28, we are fortunate to be hosting a representative from U.S.Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management with a presentation to our Montalvo Service Group about planned giving -- which is a great way to leave a legacy that ensures your contributions will be shared for generations to come.
We plan to offer more opportunities to the community to learn about legacy gifts, so we hope you'll stay tuned. If you're thinking about including a gift to Montalvo in your estate plan, you can also learn more about planned giving and what type of gift might be right for you through the button below.
