"Theater artists can’t be silent. We won’t be silent. We will always find creative ways to create meaningful, beautiful work. We will keep creating. We will keep sharing."
-Artistic Director Blanka Zizka

We hope are you staying safe during these challenging times. Here at the Wilma, we are working to blaze a path to a brighter future, one in which our shows respond profoundly to our new world.

"We are using this moment to rethink our mission, our priorities, our ways of doing."

-Co-Artistic Director Yury Urnov, next season's Lead Artistic Director

During this forced intermission when we cannot gather together in Center City, we are forging new ways to create and share. Read below to see how we are staying connected to our artists, our students, and you.

Wilma Home Theater

Announcing the Wilma Home Theater.

The Wilma Home Theater will be a place for our artists to share exciting digital arts content.

Our HotHouse company of artists is continuing to meet and train together every week virtually. We will be sharing what they create, and other projects that our artists are envisioning.

The first creation (below) was a response to the prompt, "Hello, World."

We'll be sharing more in the coming weeks.

HotHouse at Home

Our Education Department launched the Wilma Virtual Studio.

The studio will stream weekly online content for students and the public.

The first collaboration was a crowd-sourced poem, which you can watch by clicking hereLast week, the studio co-hosted a virtual poetry slam with teens, in partnership with the Philly Slam League.

Today, the Studio is doing a virtual poetry reading, from a prompt from HotHouse company member Jaylene Clark Owens.

Going forward, the Studio is planning tutorials on juggling and mask-making, and more crowdsourced art.

In addition, students with our award-winning after school theater program, the Wilma All-Stars, are continuing to meet together virtually, only digitally.

Fete 2020

Our Fête is going virtual.

As we announced last week, our fundraiser will be online and feature a special "desktop" performance from Philly's own Martha Graham Cracker.

The online party will take place on Sunday, May 3 at 5:30 p.m.

The Fête will include access to an evening of exciting streamed entertainment featuring special guest appearances by Wilma HotHouse Company artists, a sneak-peek at the Wilma’s next season, a Q&A with our new co-Artistic Directors, a virtual dance party, and more.

Guests who purchase a premium ticket to this year’s digital Fête will receive a special link to the exclusive performances, automatic entry into a raffle for prizes, a special gift to be enjoyed during the performance, and more.

We hope to announce additional projects and streaming content soon.

All of this amazing work is thanks to supporters like you, who allow us to continue to pay our amazing artists and educators.

Please consider purchasing a ticket to our Fête or making a tax-deductible donation to support us. Your support is more important than ever.

With your help, we will keep creating and sharing our art, now and in the future.
