In July, WFYI public radio in Indianapolis featured segments about two of our public programs - the Songbook Academy, our summer intensive for high school singers, and Perfect Harmony, a monthly program for seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other neurodegenerative conditions. Click here to listen to the July 15 episode of "The Art of the Matter" on WFYI.
As a small nonprofit organization, the Songbook Foundation depends on a team of dedicated volunteers who assist us with the Songbook Exhibit Gallery, provide tours to our visitors and tour groups, and complete a wide variety of projects in the Songbook Archives.
Visit our website to learn more about Emma Hedrick, a member of our Perfect Harmony volunteer team. Emma, a high school senior who is passionate about the Great American Songbook, was recently named the national winner of DownBeat Magazine's Student Music Awards in the High School Vocal Jazz category.
In addition to our public programs, and our ongoing work to preserve and promote the history of the Great American Songbook, we maintain an extensive collection of materials in the Songbook Library that are available to scholars and other guests who visit the Songbook Archives to conduct research.
Songbook Archivist Lisa Lobdell has assembled a list of materials that would enhance the Songbook Library's offerings. Click here to view the Songbook Foundation's Amazon Wish List. Any items you gift to us will be shipped directly to our headquarters in Carmel, Indiana. (Please include a note with your name in the "gift message" section so we can thank you!)
