HARTFORD, CT — August 29, 2018 — Hartford Stage will host its first fundraising golf tournament, The Hartford Stage Open, on Monday, September 24, at the Keney Park Golf Club in Hartford. Proceeds from the tournament will support the Tony Award-winning regional theatre’s artistic and education programs.
“Creating a golf tournament to support the exceptional work of Hartford Stage is an exciting venture,” said Hartford Stage Board President David R. Jimenez. “We are engaging new individuals and corporate partners in our mission to enlighten, entertain, and educate while enjoying a day at beautiful Keney Park.”
The public 18-hole Keney Park Golf Club course, which recently underwent an extensive restoration, was named the top classic golf course in Connecticut by Golfweek Magazine this year. It was originally designed by Devereux Emmet, the pioneering American golf course architect who designed more than 150 courses worldwide.
The Hartford Stage Open will tee-off at 10:30 a.m. with an 18-hole team scramble. Participating golfers will enjoy food and drink from local businesses including Hog River Brewing Co. and Bakery on Main and can enter to win one of several raffle prizes.
Hoffman Audi of East Hartford will award a two-year car lease as a prize for a player who sinks a hole-in-one on the contest hole.
Following the tournament, a dinner reception will be held at The Tavern at Keney Park, a member of the Dish Restaurant Group. The winning team will receive a trophy handcrafted by Hartford Stage Scene Shop staff at the reception, where raffle winners will also be announced.
Sponsors for The Hartford Stage Open include the Hartford Courant, Locke Lord LLP, Cyient, People’s United Bank, The Simon Konover Company, BlumShapiro, Conning & Company, the John and Kelly Hartman Foundation, and Coppermine Advisors.
