Dear Friends,

As the discussion around the proposed quarter-cent Hamilton County sales tax levy to support the restoration, renovation and repair of Music Hall and Union Terminal continues, we are pleased to bring you the fifth in a series of communications.
Please click here to review previous communications.

The County Commission chambers were overflowing yesterday with supporters for the proposed quarter-cent sales tax levy to repair, restore and renovate both Music Hall and Union Terminal. Of the 80 individuals who spoke out on this issue yesterday at the public hearing, 76 were in support of the Cultural Facilities Task Force recommendation. Again, thank you! The response was tremendous, and these regional treasures truly had a voice at that hearing through your presence, support, passion and energy.

As I’ve stated earlier in earlier communications, it is important to share your support with the Hamilton County Commissioners. Please contact the Hamilton County Commissioners with this simple message:

Thank them for their leadership in addressing these long-standing issues.

Ask them to allow the citizens of Hamilton County the opportunity to vote on this proposed plan in November.

Also yesterday, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley announced his support of continued City funding for the ongoing maintenance of both Music Hall and Union Terminal.  Under his proposal Music Hall maintenance funding, which was to expire, would continue for the next 25 years.  Likewise Union Terminal maintenance funding, which similarly had no future guarantee, would be provided for the next 25 years.  This represents an additional City commitment of $10 million toward Music Hall and Union Terminal.  The Mayor’s proposal also makes a clear statement that should the proposed quarter-cent sales tax levy be placed on the ballot, that our effort to repair, restore and renovate these iconic buildings would have the support of both City and County leaderships.  This shared purpose is critical to moving the project forward.
