Music for Sport
7‒10 March | Riverside Theatres, Parramatta

Suitable: Years 3‒10

This program presents orchestral music that has been used for major sporting events, from the Paris Olympics of 1924 to Ravel's Bolero and Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. Playerlink ‒ APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!
Fri 5‒Sun 7 May | Orange Regional Conservatorium

This annual pop-up music camp is a special orchestral immersion experience for talented young musicians based in regional NSW.

What is Playerlink?
A 3-day orchestral experience for music students in Years 5-12 hosted by the Orange Regional Conservatorium.
13 SSO musicians and a conductor will travel to Orange to work with and mentor the young musicians in sectionals and orchestral rehearsals.
The weekend culminates in a free family presentation-workshop! Learn more.

Regional Tour - Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo!
24‒26 May | Bathurst Entertainment Centre, Orange Civic Theatre, and Dubbo Convention Centre

Suitable: Years K‒12

In 2017 the SSO heads to Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo. Our concerts will explore the evolution of the orchestra from the first fanfares and early Baroque to the orchestra in the 21st century. Machine Music
30 May‒2 Jun | Seymour Centre, Chippendale

Suitable: Years 3‒10

The sounds of machines can be their own kind of music. Some composers have written music for machines and discovered ways to replicate the sounds of machinery through the instruments in the orchestra. Students will be enthralled as a typewriter joins the percussion section, we hear Elgar's interpretation of a wagon passing and Mussorgsky's crazy hut on chicken legs. Learn more. The Bush Concert
31 Oct‒3 Nov | Seymour Centre, Chippendale

Suitable: Years K‒6

Helga Visser's picture book is brought to life by Mark Simeon Ferguson's score for the orchestra with storyteller, Barry Conrad. What do the animals do when the drought will not end? Students will discover the instruments of the orchestra and the sounds of the Australian Bush as they take part in a very unusual concert. The resource kit includes the picture book! In 2017, we introduce the Teachers' Lounge, providing exclusive invitations for teachers to relax and enjoy SSO concerts!

Access to the lounge, is automatically yours when you finalise your school's concert subscription package. 

In Term 1, we are offering a double pass giveaway to see Asher Fisch conduct music of Brahms and Strauss on Friday 31 March 8pm.
