HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I—If theoretical physicist Brian Greene is
to be believed, our universe is just one of an infinite set of universes all
playing out simultaneously in what is commonly known as the multiverse.
Fortunately for existence, in every one of those universes there is a Honolulu
Museum of Art presenting ARTafterDARK: Parallel Universe on April 28. The event in this
universe in presented by iichiko.
Seriously, though, the museum's monthly art party focuses on the immersive video installation Shahzia Sikander: Parallax, a multisensory experience that has previously been at the Sharjah Biennial and Guggenheim Bilbao.
In Central Courtyard, VJ Vizual Cortex keeps the digital eye candy going with his video
projections.
Guests can visit the iichiko bar to sample their diverse shochu offerings,
as well as take fun photos with Instagram frames.
Anyone who joins
or renews their membership April 24 to 28 will be entered to win an iichiko bar
bundle. The bundle includes six bottles of iichiko BLU, 12 bottles of iichiko
BAR Yuzu, and 12 bottles of iichiko BAR Ume. The winner will be informed Friday,
May 5, by phone or e-mail.
HoMA turned 90 on April 8, and the museum keeps the celebration going— ARTafterDARK visitors can decorate birthday
cards. Meanwhile DJ Kuya and DJ Vaughn spin tracks that transcend time and
space.
Parallax was inspired by the artist's road trip through the United Arab Emirates. EAT Honolulu takes its cues from the installation and has created a Middle Eastern–inspired feast that includes a spiced lamb stew. Here's the full menu.
Free Spirits Mobile Bartenders will mix
the night’s specialty cocktail.
