Salome opens October 2013

Additional single tickets for the 2013/14 season  are now on sale for subscribers only, and can be purchased by calling the box office at 780.429.1000. Single tickets will go on sale to the general public on Sept. 1. In October 2013, we open the season with Salome,  Strauss' opera taken from Oscar Wilde's play. It's scandalous, seductive and shocking, as a princess demands a prophet's head be served to her on a platter. Don't forget, single tickets are a great way to introduce a friend to opera this season!

2013/14 subscriptions

Celebrate our 50th anniversary at the opera with us by purchasing your 2013/14 subscription for Salome, Die Fledermaus and Madama Butterfly!  Packages are available for Saturday (8 p.m.), Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) or Thursday (7:30 p.m.). Each of the operas offers something different — a psychological thriller with intense, lush music; a sparkling comedy in three-quarter time, and a romantic tearjerker that details the inner struggle of a Japanese geisha.

50 Days of Opera

The Edmonton Opera is celebrating five decades of artistic excellence with opera every day, for 50 days! From outreach events, pop-up performances, online contests and more, we'll be bringing opera to the community, starting Sept. 12. Edmontonopera.com will be updated with details later this summer.

Is there a particular EO moment that is still fresh in your mind? Starting mid-August, we'll be accepting submissions from Edmontonians about a particular memory they have of the Edmonton Opera, which will be posted on our website and displayed at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

Opera Brunch subscriptions; Salome brunch Oct. 20

We are very excited to host our three Sunday brunches this season at the Edmonton Petroleum Club, at 11110 108 St. Start your opera experience with brunch — this great event allows opera-lovers to enjoy quality food, chat with other opera-goers, and preview the voices that will be on stage in a much more intimate setting. Salome brunch, with principle artists Maida Hundeling, Mark Schnaible, Jan Vacik and Mary Phillips will be on Oct. 20, at 11 a.m.
Subscriptions for opera brunches are now on sale by calling the box office at 780.429.1000 — be sure to join us and enjoy a great menu created by executive chef Doreen Prei, free parking and the gorgeous Leduc room.
