Carlos Kalmar Returns - Romeo and Juliet - Stargazing Event - Harris Theater Information for the Weekend

AUGUST AT THE FESTIVAL
DON'T MISS OUR FINAL THREE WEEKS!

Tomorrow, Carlos Kalmar returns to conduct an evening inspired by William Shakespeare, including Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture Fantasy, Dvořák's Othello Overture, Strauss' Macbeth and Wagner's Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde.

Then, we move indoors to the Harris Theater for the weekend, when the Grant Park Chorus joins the orchestra and guest soloists for Haydn's Theresa Mass. Debussy's Nocturnes and Haydn's Overture from The Creation round out the evening.

There are no open rehearsals on Thursday and Friday. Pre-concert lectures during the weekend will take place one hour before the concert in the Harris Theater second floor donor lounge. The Harris Theater is located at 205 E. Randolph Street.

Order a One Night Member Pass and get a reserved seat up close to the stage for this or any Grant Park Music Festival concert.

Or select four concerts with a Choose Your Own package for only $96 and experience great music, performed by the world-class Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus in the out-of-this-world setting of Millennium Park.

It's our membership program, with tax-deductible One Night Passes and Choose Your Own packages, that help support the Festival's mission of keeping concerts accessible for all. From free concerts in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion to our education and community engagement initiatives and our live radio broadcasts, we reach nearly one million Chicagoans and visitors each summer.

Then, join us after the concert when the Chicago Astronomical Society leads viewings of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars from telescopes at the back of the Great Lawn. The Red Planet will be approximately 36 million miles from Earth, the closest it's been since 2003.

Stop by the back of the Great Lawn before the concert for hands-on activities for the entire family, courtesy of the Lurie Garden. Young nature explorers and scientists can learn about the plants used in Shakespeare's tales and get an even closer look through microscopes.

Come explore with us tomorrow night at the Festival.
