Annie's Spotlight

Anne-Marie McDermott

Bravo! Vail Artistic Director

It has long been a dream of mine to clear the traditional boundaries between musicians and audience. At Bravo! Vail, we started exploring this concept in 2016 with the nature-inspired Inuksuit, in which 66 percussionists turned Maloit Park in Minturn into a transcendent musical environment. This week, we’re infusing the incredible energy of Asphalt Orchestra directly into our community, at farmers' markets and pop-up performances, and with scheduled free concerts as well. When the crowd gets involved and really starts feeling the music, the separation between performer and listener dissolves. The only thing anyone really needs to “know about music” is whether it moves you, and the only thing you really need to be moved is an open mind and an open heart. Asphalt Orchestra will open your heart, blow your mind, and get you moving!
