You are invited to join us at the 2018 Africa Utopia think-in on Tuesday 23 January

(Not 19 January, as previously advertised)

Now in its sixth year, Africa Utopia highlights art and ideas from across the continent and its diaspora that are changing the world, bringing the very best to Southbank Centre.

Last year's festival featured writer and performer Selina Thompson, BAFTA-winning director Amma Asante, comedian Daliso Chaponda, poet Toni Stuart, The Salooni Project and Chineke! Orchestra.

In preparation for next year's festival, we're asking you what the key themes of Africa Utopia should be. What would you like to see represented? How can we improve on previous festivals?

This think-in is your chance to influence and contribute ideas to the shape of the 2018 festival, particularly in relation to the talks and debates programme as well as future planning and elsewhere across the festival.

I hope you can join us.

Warm wishes,
Hannah Azieb Pool
Senior Programmer, Contemporary Culture

notes on a think-in

Think-ins are Southbank Centre’s way of exploring ideas to determine what themes each of our festivals will focus on.

The think-in environment is considered to be a safe space so that you may talk freely while retaining anonymity.

No idea at a think-in is wrong, but due to various factors, not all ideas may be implemented. However our aim is to keep you fully informed as the festival takes shape.
