MUSEUM OFFERS FREE SHUTTLE TO SPALDING HOUSE IN MAKIKI HEIGHTS ON TUESDAYS

Also on Tuesdays is tour of museum masterpieces at both locations

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I—Since 2010, Honolulu Museum of Art admission has included same-day admission to its second location Spalding House in Makiki Heights. Starting Feb. 7, on Tuesdays the museum offers a free shuttle bus ride between its main location at 900 Beretania St and Spalding House, from 11 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

For years people have asked if the museum had a shuttle between the two locations, and now it does. The museum owns the bus, which is used as the Shangri La tour bus from Wednesday to Saturday.

A round-trip ride and an hour spent exploring Spalding House is about 90 minutes.

The Tuesday shuttle rides between Honolulu Museum of Art and Spalding House are included with museum admission. To take the shuttle, guests simply check in at the Visitor Information Center at the entrance of the museum. The last shuttle leaves Spalding House at 3:15 p.m. The shuttle service will be offered through June 20.

HoMA Select Shuttle Tour: Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
Also on Tuesdays is the museum’s HoMA Select Shuttle Tour, a guided tour of the museum’s masterpieces—as featured in the new catalog Collection Highlights. Visitors meet at the Visitor Information Center at the Beretania Street location. A docent takes guests on a 45-minute tour of works such as the 11th-century statue of Guanyin and Seated Nude by Modigliani, then escorts guests on the shuttle to Spalding House where they explore more masterworks in the exhibition HoMA Select. The “greatest hits” shuttle tour is offered through June 20.
