CHICAGO - Lyric Opera of Chicago is auditioning for solo dancer roles in its upcoming production of the opera Les Troyens by Hector Berlioz. This production will be staged by world-renowned director Tim Albery, with choreography by Helen Pickett, internationally-acclaimed resident choreographer for the Atlanta Ballet. August Tye is the ballet mistress.
Rehearsals begin October 3, 2016, with five performances November 13 – December 3.
Les Troyens requires five women and five men to be contracted as solo dancers; each must be expertly trained in both classical and contemporary ballet, and possess exceptional athletic strength, dramatic theatricality, and excellent collaborative skills.
WOMEN: Must dance en pointe; one female dancer cast must be 5’6” or taller and possess formidable dramatic stage presence
MEN: Must be skilled partners
Auditions will be held at the Civic Opera House, 40 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago IL 60606.

*There will be no ballet class this day; dancers should arrive already warmed-up and ready to dance.
Please wear clothes that show the dance line. Women need to bring pointe shoes, in addition to flat shoes/light sneakers, and men should bring ballet slippers and light sneakers. If possible, bring kneepads; we will be able to provide only a small number for those who do not have their own.

Please be prepared to show a government-issued photo identification card to gain access to the auditions. All applicants must have valid eligibility to work in the United States. Lyric Opera will not apply for working permits for foreign dancers.
