Letter from the School Director
Dear Kansas City Ballet Parents and Students,
Thank you for joining us for Watch Week in October. I hope you enjoyed observing your child and their class along with the improvements they’ve made in six short weeks. I'm very proud of the students and teachers, and enjoyed the chance to see everyone and visit with your family.
Thanksgiving Break for both the Academy and Studio Divisions will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. Please remember, even though classes are not being held, Nutcracker rehearsals continue. Please look over your dancer’s schedule carefully, as rehearsals move to the Kauffman Center and into the theater on Nov. 24. I hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Every December I look forward to the lovely Sugar Plum Fairy Luncheon, which to me, symbolizes the opening of The Nutcracker. This year’s theme is Christmas at Clara’s. Whimsical Victorian era decorations, dancing by the Kansas City Youth Ballet, photos with The Sugar Plum Fairy, unique holiday shopping and a delicious three course lunch precede the first performance of The Nutcracker. The luncheon is held at the beautiful Westin Crown Center and afterwards you will be shuttled to the Kauffman Center for the performance. This not-to-be-missed event benefits our school and takes place on Dec. 1, 2012. Please contact the KCB Box Office at 816–931–2232 to purchase tickets.
Sugar Plum Fairy Luncheon Raffle Tickets are now available for purchase at both campuses at the front desk. Prizes include one year’s tuition at our school, the American Girl Doll Caroline, complete with her boat, coat and ice skates, and a custom made Clara Nightgown resembling the one worn in our production! Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. For assistance, at the Johnson County Campus please see Marcus or Ann, and at the Bolender Center please see Lynley or Skyler.
Wishing your family a happy holiday season!
