Reaching new artistic heights

There are just eight days left of the 2016 festival and it has been widely acclaimed as one of our best ever, with The Creation still to come next week.

We have compiled a selection of some outstanding reviews here.

"Idomeneo would grace any metropolitan stage."

The buzz in the House was thrilling

For the first time this year we combined two schemes which we feel passionate about. On 4 July, the Opera Pavilion was full of excited secondary school children who had all been introduced to the themes of Eugene Onegin through our Learning & Participation workshops. They were at Wormsley to see a performance by the full understudy cast as part of our Alvarez Young Artists' Programme, accompanied by the excellent Garsington Opera Orchestra. There was as much excitement and enthusiasm on the stage as in the audience and the gripped attention throughout as well as the loud and long applause proved what a fantastic opportunity this had given to everyone involved.

Watch Eugene Onegin online

We are thrilled to announce that Garsington Opera is now available online! For the next six months you can view our acclaimed production of Eugene Onegin - our first opera to be available for free on the BBC Arts website. The performance was captured live and is also being shown on a big screen, free of charge, in various coastal locations around the country, as part of our Opera for All project in collaboration with Magna Vitae and with generous support from Arts Council England. "

"A chance to see the best Onegin of the century."

Curtain Up at Garsington

Will Pope, a young aspiring film director, has captured some informal moments at Wormsley, including backstage footage, following Katie Bray's arrival on site and her preparations in the wig and makeup room for her role in L'italiana in Algeri. In just two minutes the film glimpses some of the excitement before Katie goes on stage as well as the anticipation of those about to see her.
