FORT WORTH, TEXAS, January 26, 2015— The 2013 Cliburn winners—Vadym Kholodenko (gold), Beatrice Rana (silver), Sean Chen (third prize), Fei-Fei Dong, Nikita Mndoyants, and Tomoki Sakata—continue to perform around the globe, garnering praise from audiences and critics.
Gold Medalist Vadym Kholodenko launched the 2014–2015 season with impressive debuts with the San Diego Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestras; in recitals in Boston, Paris, and Rio de Janeiro; and beginning his three-year artistic partnership with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) with a stunning Prokofiev Second Concerto. He was praised for combining “impressive keyboard prowess with probing emotional depth and daring individuality” (San Diego Story). Highlights of his spring tour include concerto performances with the orchestras of Phoenix, Indianapolis, Malmö, and Orquesta Sinfonica y Coro de RTVE; and recitals in Seattle (UW World Series), Athens (UGA Performing Arts Center), and Singapore (Esplanade). He also continues his FWSO relationship with an acclaimed chamber performance in January and Prokofiev’s Fifth Piano Concerto in March.
Silver Medalist Beatrice Rana kicked off her U.S. fall tour with successful stops in Atlanta, Cleveland, Fort Worth, and Washington, D.C. She was lauded for being “a musician’s musician, thoughtfully attending to unraveling the composer’s musical intent while giving the score a vividly personalized rendering” (ArtsATL). Spring highlights include the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia; and recitals for the Gilmore in Kalamazoo, MI; the Louvre in Paris; and Wigmore Hall in London.
Third-prize winner Sean Chen won raves for his fall concerts at Pepperdine University, and with the Milwaukee and Midland Symphony Orchestras—playing “with energy, intensity and consummate skill” (Midland Daily News). Upcoming dates include the Hartford Symphony, Tucson Symphony, and Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia; and recitals in New Orleans and San Diego, as well as a tour in Hawaii.

The Cliburn advances classical piano music throughout the world. Its international competitions, education programs, and concert series embody an enduring commitment to artistic excellence and the discovery of new artists.
