2016 Songbook Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Recap

On Saturday, Oct. 15, the annual Songbook Celebration Gala and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held at the Center for the Performing Arts. The Palladium was transformed into a 1920s speakeasy as we inducted Hoagy Carmichael, Diahann Carroll, and Dionne Warwick into the Songbook Hall of Fame. Michael Feinstein and Storm Large of Pink Martini were in rare form as they headlined this fantastic evening together! Click here to see photos of the 2016 Songbook Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts serves as the official home of the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame. Vince Giordano Visit and Heartland Film Festival Recap

In October, the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis screened a new feature-length film, “Vince Giordano: There’s a Future in the Past,” which documents Vince’s life as the leader of the NYC-based Nighthawks Orchestra, which specializes in 20s/30s hot jazz. The Songbook Foundation was proud to serve as a Promotional Partner for the Festival's screenings of this film, which will soon be released on DVD. Click here for more info.

Vince traveled to Indianapolis to appear at the Festival, and while he was here he spent two days extensively researching many of the one-of-a-kind musical arrangements that are permanently housed in the Songbook Archives. We greatly enjoyed sharing our resources and spending time with Vince, and we look forward to his next visit!
