Our first-ever workshop focused entirely on participant-led choreography begins Monday, August 22 at the Hubbard Street Dance Center. Led by Hubbard Street 2 Director Terence Marling, and Artistic Associate and Coordinator of Pre-Professional Programs Meredith Dincolo, our Fall Dancemakers Intensive gives early-career and pre-professional dancers the opportunity to create and present their own work.

Announcing our Fall 2016 Studio Series
On September 10, Indonesian contemporary dance company Nan Jombang kicks off our Fall 2016 Studio Series with a master class combining the traditional West Sumatran martial art of Silat Minangkabau with contemporary dance and body percussion.
Choreographer Peter Chu’s works push the physical bounds of movement, bringing both sharp and liquid-like energies into contrast. On September 17, Chu returns to Hubbard Street for a four-hour workshop during which advanced students can focus on free-form movement and spatial composition.
Space is limited! These events are limited to 30 participants. Follow this link to learn more about Hubbard Street’s Studio Series.
The four captivating programs we’ve created for Season 39 at Hubbard Street kick off with our Fall Series, featuring world premieres by the Harris Theater’s inaugural Resident Artist, Brian Brooks, our own Resident Choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo, and a spellbinding pair by master choreographer Jiří Kylián. And that’s just the beginning.

The Autism Project
Fall Session registration for The Autism Project is now open! Following the curriculum we’ve developed in collaboration with the Resource Center for Autism and Developmental Delays at the University of Illinois at Chicago, students will explore dance technique and the choreographic process, using developmentally appropriate methods. For more information, please call Community Programs Manager Michelle Modrzejewski at 312-850-9744 ext. 194.
Parkinson’s Project
Thanks to a generous grant from the National Parkinson’s Foundation, Hubbard Street’s Parkinson’s Project — the longest-running dance class in the Midwest for people living with the disease — is expanding its reach. We are currently looking for partners on Chicago’s South and West Sides to help us grow this effective and important Adaptive Dance Program. Parkinson’s Project classes return this September to the Hubbard Street Dance Center; sign up for a drop-in class, or register to observe one today.
Thanks to the generosity of one of our donors, Hubbard Street has received a new matching gift. For the month of August only, this donor is matching all contributions — up to $20,000!
Help support our collaborative programming with artistic professionals, choreographers, teachers and students in Chicago Public Schools, and dancers of all ages and abilities.
All gifts made through August 31, 2016 will be automatically matched. Don’t miss this opportunity to double your dollars in support of Hubbard Street.
