As part of the first-ever ATB Canadian Series, we are very excited to present the world premiere of Shelter, Nov. 15-18 at La Cité Francophone. A fable that flirts with the dangerous beauty of science, Shelter is the result of years of research and workshopping by composer Juliet Palmer and librettist Julie Salverson. Fall in love with the classics on our mainstage while experiencing something new and intriguing during the ATB Canadian Series.
The Experience is quickly approaching! Nov. 1 at the Shaw Conference Centre features a night of wine, spirits and beer tasting as a prelude to the Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival. Proceeds benefit both the University Hospital Foundation and the Edmonton Opera. Last year's event sold out, so we encourage you to get your tickets soon, as either single tickets or a table pack of 10.
Village of Widows, which was part of the starting research for Shelter, will be presented on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., location to be announced. The documentary tells the story of the Dene people who mined the uranium on Great Bear Lake which would eventually contribute to the Manhattan Project. Still humming the Triumphal March from Aida earlier this month? The production may be over, but the fine craft pieces inspired by Verdi's grand opera are still available for purchase at the opera box office at Tix on the Square.
