Whales: Giants of the Deep dives into San Antonio this summer! Bring the family for this hands-on interactive and immersive exhibit. Explore the latest research about the marine animals from their evolution and biology to the important role they play in human cultures. The exhibition uses an engaging blend of science, storytelling and innovative interactive galleries that give visitors the opportunity to discover more about the world of whales and what lives in the oceans’ depths.

Wild Weather reveals how scientists are working to better forecast these events and help mitigate the impact on communities, infrastructure and lives. Experience extreme weather patterns from the safety of the exhibition hall and discover the effects of climate change from around the globe and learn how you can weather the storm!

Natural Beauty: Fiesta of Land, Water, and Sky celebrates the natural beauty of Texas at a time of great significance for the Witte Museum. Come see the first Fiesta exhibition in the New Witte. The exhibition celebrates the unique land, water and sky of Texas, which serve as a permanent theme at the Witte. From rolling prairies filled with wild flowers to starry skies that spark the imagination, Natural Beauty will spark the imagination with a stunning selection of the Witte’s collection of Order of the Alamo coronation robes and gowns.

June 5-9

Next-door Nature Camp, ages 6-8

You don’t have to look far to find amazing discoveries in nature! Explore the world around you and learn just how important it is to care for our planet. In the Texas Wild Gallery and Live Lab, discover the many different habitats found in Texas and get up close and personal with the critters that make it their home. Expect to explore Brackenridge Park and discover what our San Antonio habitat can teach us about the natural world.

Wild about Texas Camp, ages 9-12

Get outside and into nature! Discover how the many different eco-regions of Texas make it one of the most amazing places for animals to survive and thrive. Explore the Texas Wild Gallery and Live Lab and get up close and personal with native Texas creatures and observe their features and behaviors. We will even venture away from the museum to use our observation skills in the “wild” Brackenridge Park. Get ready for a wild adventure!

$330/week, $65/day for members $380/week, $75/day for non-members

Join us for the 13th Season in the newly opened New Witte campus for a relaxing afternoon listening to jazz under the pecan trees of the Will Smith Amphitheater. Food and beverages are available for purchase from Picante Grill.

Sunday Jazz at the Witte is included with museum general admission. Admission is free for Witte and KRTU members. Schedule is subject to change.

There be Whales… in the Gulf of Mexico: Who Knew?

 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Dr. Larry McKinney, Executive Director of the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, will discuss the rich, if not widely known, history and occurrence of the oceans' largest mammals across the Gulf. McKinney will highlight how industrialization and maritime transportation impact the 21 whale species in our coastal waters. 

Includes admission to Whales: Giants of the Deep.
