“Center Stage” by Erin Osmon for Chicago magazine, June 2015.

Celebrate with our second-ever program devoted to the work of a single artist: Alejandro Cerrudo. His 14th World Premiere for Hubbard Street headlines an evening of favorites celebrating the creative range of our first Resident Choreographer.
Still in Motion
World Premiere

Still in Motion is a pure-dance piece set to music by a diverse group of classical and contemporary composers including Johann Paul von Westhoff, Max Richter, Ólafur Arnalds and Alice Sara Ott. “While viewing the piece in-progress,” writes Jordan Reinwald for Clef Notes Chicagoland Journal for the Arts, “it is apparent that this work, for four men and four women, will be a testament to the power of simplicity.” Erin Osmon of Chicago magazine says, “Cerrudo’s latest is a lesson in restraint.” With an innovative, minimalist set design by Michael Korsch, Still in Motion offers its viewers a mesmerizing journey, through both intimate moments and stage-filling ensemble scenes.

Click here to read Jordan Reinwald’s preview of Still in Motion and hear from Alejandro himself. “I don’t want to compare this new piece to anything I’ve done in the past,” he says. “I always take a different approach when I start something new and I don’t know how it will turn out. This can be scary.”

Summer in Chicago is finally here. Join us for
Youth Summer Camps at Hubbard Street!

Hubbard Street’s Youth Summer Camps offer creative, technique-focused and performance opportunities all summer long.

Little Movers Camp, for ages 4–6, gives our littlest dancers a full week of fun to build gross motor skills, musicality and kinesthetic confidence.

Artistic Connections Camp and Dance Explorers Camp, for ages 6–11, give students a chance to create, explore and perform each day.

Technique Workshop Series and Hip-Hop Camp, for ages 7–16, allow dancers to focus on their favorite techniques, through intensive study of ballet, jazz, modern and hip-hop — available “à la carte” or in any combination.

Hubbard Street’s Level I Preparatory Summer Intensive is ideal for serious dancers who are working towards advanced and pre-professional course work.
