AUGUST'S ARTafterDARK: '=' CELEBRATES PRIDE

29th annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival inspires museum party

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I—Influenced by the 29th annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival, the museum is proud to present ARTafterDARK: '=' a colorful tribute to Pride, on Aug. 31. This event is sponsored by Bank of Hawaii

Scarlet Lounge staple DJ Vaughn will spin dance hits in Luce Courtyard as DJ Takai is slated to hold down Central Courtyard. 

At 8pm, guests can head over to Central Courtyard to watch contestants strut their stuff in a High Heel Fashion Show. Space is limited; to enter, guests can complete and submit this form to tfrederick@honolulumuseum.org by Monday, Aug. 27, 2018.

Food will be provided by EAT Honolulu, and will include: an "LGBTQ" slider on a locally made taro roll and topped with sugar-spiced bacon; seared locally caught fish tataki; spinach and mushroom cannelloni; and a braised pork meatball with sesame orzo.

Free Spirits Mobile Bartenders will be in attendance to serve drinks. The speciality cocktail of the evening will be the "=Equality Elixir," composed of Kinky liqueur topped with Prosecco. 

MOBILE CHECK-IN

Members who download the HoMA app can skip the line and glide right into the event using their digital membership card. All they have to do is search “Honolulu Museum of Art” in the Apple App Store or Google Play, download the app, and go to “My account” to log in and view their already activated digital membership cards.

Oct 26: CarnEvil, ARTafterDARK’s annual Halloween blowout.

Launched in 2004, ARTafterDARK is the Honolulu Museum of Art's monthly art party organized by a dynamic group of young volunteers dedicated to exploring the arts. ARTafterDARK is held on the last Friday of the month, January through October, from 6 to 9 p.m. on the grounds of the Honolulu Museum of Art.

Admission (permits entry to both museums on the same day):

$20 general admission; $10 Hawai‘i residents and active duty military living in Hawai‘i; children 18 and under are free.
