Hartford Stage to Host Book Signings with James Lecesne during The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey

Lecesne’s Young Adult Novel, Absolute Brightness, Inspiration for Critically-Acclaimed Show

HARTFORD, CT — MARCH 16, 2017 — Hartford Stage will host several book signings with playwright, performer and activist James Lecesne for his young adult novel that inspired the hit play, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, which runs from Thursday, March 30, through Sunday, April 23. The novel will be on sale for $9.99 in the Hartford Stage gift shop.

Lecesne will personally sign copies of Absolute Brightness following the Sunday, April 2, 2 p.m. matinee; the Thursday, April 6, 7:30 pm evening performance; and on Sunday, April 9, following the 2 p.m. matinee’s post-show discussion.

Publisher Feiwel & Friends describes Absolute Brightness: “Leonard is an orphan, a cousin who Phoebe never knew she had. When he comes to live with Phoebe’s family, he upsets the delicate balance of their lives. He’s gay and confident about who he is. He inspires the people around him. He sees people not as they are. One day, Leonard goes missing. Phoebe, her family, and her community fight to understand what happened, and to make sense of why someone might want to extinguish the beautiful absolute brightness that was Leonard Pelkey.”

Tickets for all shows start at $25, with student tickets at $20. For group discounts (10 or more), contact Group Sales at 860-520-7114. For all other tickets, please call the Hartford Stage box office at 860-527-5151 or visit www.hartfordstage.org.
