Friday Jazz featuring Jason Collier

Friday, April 21 | 6–10 p.m.

Mark your calendar for live jazz in the High's atrium! Music, drinks, art—no matter the month, every Friday Jazz offers a great lineup featuring different styles of jazz, from straight ahead to free jazz, bebop to swing, and more.

April Book Club

Monday, April 24 | 7 p.m.

This month we’re reading Lolita, Nabokov’s most famous and controversial novel, which tells the story of middle-aged Humbert Humbert’s obsessive and doomed passion for twelve-year-old Dolores Haze. Lolita is also the story of a hyper-civilized European colliding with the cheerful barbarism of postwar America. Most of all, it is a meditation on love—love as outrage and hallucination, madness and transformation.

Program Recap: Hindu Art and Architecture

The Art Partners enjoyed an exclusive tour of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir on March 25. The Mandir is a stunningly beautiful masterpiece of architecture and craftsmanship. During our visit, we learned that each of the more than 34,000 pieces of stone was hand carved in India before being shipped and assembled on-site.

Fifty members attended the event. In lieu of paying an entrance fee, guests were encouraged to help the Mandir serve the community by bringing canned-food items for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. A special thank you to everyone who attended and those who brought donations—because of you, we were able to provide over 80 items to the Food Bank!
