The Colorado Symphony is honored to host the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert & Humanitarian Awards at Boettcher Concert Hall on Tuesday, January 12. Now in its 25th year, this annual celebration recognizes four humanitarian leaders who live and lead in the example of peace and equality exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.



*ADMISSION IS FREE, BUT TICKETS ARE REQUIRED. Tickets are available in-person only at the Boettcher Concert Hall Box Office. All seating is general admission and a ticket does not guarantee a seat.

Former Principal Pops Conductor of the Colorado Symphony, the late, great Marvin Hamlisch is an entertainment legend. He's one of a dozen people to win an Emmy®, a Grammy®, an Oscar®, and a Tony®, plus he won a Pulitzer and a pair of Golden Globes® to boot. He won three Oscars in 1974 – two for the score for The Way We Were and the third for his adaptation of Scott Joplin for The Sting. Featuring the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, this concert spans Hamlisch's remarkable career, from his work on Woody Allen films to A Chorus Line to the score for Ordinary People.

MUSSORGSKY PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION

Pictures at an Exhibition, Mussorgsky's rich, intense, and very Russian masterpiece is a perfect match for the talents of conductor Jayce Ogren, who has been hailed by audiences everywhere in terms of both geography and genre: conducting West Side Story in London, My Fair Lady in Paris, and Rufus Wainright with the Toronto Symphony. Similarly versatile, Colorado Symphony Associate Concertmaster Claude Sim performs Aram Khachaturian's Violin Concerto which showcases Sim's boundless energy and flawless technique.

This edition of Inside the Score takes us from Mercury to Neptune with an in depth look at Gustav Holst's The Planets. Holst's suite features seven movements, each dedicated to a different planet in the solar system capturing the distinct and unique character of each.

The annual Colorado Symphony and Denver Young Artists Orchestra (DYAO) side-by-side celebrates 100 years of the U. S. National Parks Service with an exciting program highlighting the beauty of our great land. The DYAO will join the CSO on stage for Symphony No. 1: Formations by local composer and educator Jeffrey Nytch. Don't forget to arrive early for HalfNotes pre-concert activities in Gallery 2!

BROADWAY'S SIERRA BOGGESS IN CONCERT

Denver native and Colorado Children's Chorale alumnus Sierra Boggess is best known for her Broadway debut originating the role of Ariel in the 2007 The Little Mermaid. Boggess has also been a Broadway mainstay for the last decade performing in Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Ever After, and other musicals. It's easy to hear why: Her enchanting, soaring vocals hit all of the right notes. For this Valentine's Day weekend concert, Boggess will sing a number of the tunes that made her a superstar, accompanied by the orchestra and Colorado Children's Chorale.
