Ian Shive

Ian Shive

Dear Friend ,

For Ian Shive, a day’s work is like a walk in the park, if that park is Yosemite, Yellowstone, or some other national park. He has made chronicling the drama and beauty of our wilderness his life’s work, and his new collection, The National Parks: An American Legacy (Insight Editions), celebrates the National Park Service’s centennial next year.

Shive discusses his career as photographer, author, educator, and environmental advocate focused on the beauty of the American landscape; offers insights on the changing role of the conservation photographer; and examines how photography has become one of the primary ways that we now interact with nature.

With stunning images as illustration, Shive talks about the ongoing challenge to preserve our national parks as well as the partnership opportunities that are creating urban wildlife refuges around the country—and bringing the wilderness closer to home.

The National Parks: An American Legacy is available for signing.
