HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I—We’re back baby! The museum’s monthly ARTafterDARK
event, which welcomed nearly 20,000 visitors in 2016, returns Jan. 27—the eve
of the Lunar New Year—to celebrate the start of the year of the rooster.
At ARTafterDARK:
Cock-a-Doodle-New-Year, the art focus is on the exhibition Yun Fei Ji: The Intimate Universe, which includes the epic
61-foot-long wall scroll The Village and
its Ghosts. After exploring the show, guests can collaborate with other
ARTafterDARKers by adding their own drawings and doodles to an epically yuuuge
scroll.
Guests
can ring in the Chinese New Year the right way by watching a traditional lion
dance and blessing by Wah Yun Culture and Arts Academy. Then the group performs
martial arts and acrobatics demonstrations. Meanwhile visitors can bob their
heads and shake their tail feathers to beats by DJ Jem.
