Florida Grand Opera partners with The Wolfsonian–FIU to host a unique multi-disciplinary event at 7pm on April 16, 2015 at the museum.
MIAMI – April 15, 2015 – Florida Grand Opera (FGO) and The Wolfsonian–FIU are proud to present “War Propaganda and The Consul,” an evening merging art and music, on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 7pm at The Wolfsonian on Miami Beach.
Against projected images of propaganda posters from the museum’s permanent collection, FGO’s Young Artists will perform powerful selections from Menotti’s 1950 political opera The Consul to illustrate the politics, violence, and hatred that fuel the fires of war.
“War Propaganda and The Consul” is the final of four events within “The Consul Community Conversations” Series. This series of events explore and expand upon the themes present in a state of political chaos and limited personal freedom, exile and asylum as depicted in Menotti’s opera The Consul, which will make its South Florida premiere on May 9 at the Arsht Center.“The Consul Community Conversations” started on February 21, 2015 and will last until April 16, 2015, in various locations throughout Miami-Dade County.
