Opera al Fresco is just over two weeks away, and we are excited to announce this year's line-up of music acts! Presented at four stages throughout the Devonian Garden, these performances are a perfect complement to the summery landscape.
As you enter the beautiful Kurimoto Japanese Garden for the opening reception, complete with delectable hors d'oeuvres, you will be treated to a performance from the Victoria School Elementary Choir led by Angela McKeown and accompanied by Bryan LeGrow.
In Primula Dell, sopranos Whitney Sloan (left) and Nola Shantz (centre) with accompanist Megan Crane will impress audiences, singing famous arias from Rigoletto and Die Fledermaus. As a fitting tribute to the venue, they will also sing the delicate "Flower Duet" from Lakmé.
While you absorb the beauty surrounding the Alpine Garden, tenor Andrea Pinna and soprano Victoria Biel, accompanied by Kim Cousineau, will charm you with timeless operatic favourites like "Nessun dorma" from Turandot and the longing duet of "O Sole Mio". Also watch for Biel's heartfelt performance of "Frère, Voyez!" from Werther by Jules Massenet.
At the Alpine Pavilion, the Edmonton Opera chorus, along with chorus master Peter Dala and accompanist Leanne Regehr, will perform powerful renditions of Cohen's "Hallelujah", Bernstein's "Make Our Garden Grow" from Candide, and more.
With such an incredible musical line-up, Opera al Fresco tickets are selling quickly! This event is sold out every year, so if you haven't already, grab your ticket today!
