SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT—Academy Students at An Evening in Oz Gala

Auditions for Summer Intensive, Pre-Professional Division & Young Dancer Workshop will be held at The Armstrong Center for Dance on February 17 and March 10*. Find more information about these programs below.
*Colorado Ballet Academy (CBA) Students: Auditions are not required but highly recommended and free to current CBA students. If interested, please see an Academy Admin to obtain a registration form.
• 2 Week: June 17-June 29
• 3 Week: July 1-July 20

Under the direction of Amanda McKerrow and John Gardner, Colorado Ballet Academy offers a Summer Intensive designed for dancers from intermediate through pre-professional levels. With internationally renowned master teachers and members of CBA’s own accomplished faculty, the program maintains an atmosphere of creative freedom for every student and a safe place to test boundaries while learning new ways to push beyond them.
Colorado Ballet Academy Pre-Professional Division is a daytime training program for career track students ages 14-20. The Academy’s Pre-Professional Division provides the necessary training to transition students from the classroom to professional dancers.
• 2 Week: June 17-June 28

Young dancers experience an introduction to intensive ballet training during Colorado Ballet Academy’s Young Dancer Workshop. Students participate in daily ballet classes with additional classes in pre-pointe, young men’s classes, character, modern, choreography, body conditioning, music for dancers, anatomy, ballet history and more.

Parents with dancers who are in Levels 1 through Pre-Professional are asked to attend our Giselle production meeting in the Black Box Theater at The Armstrong Center for Dance. We will be discussing casting, schedule and costume requirements as well as answering any questions parents have about the upcoming production.

Colorado Ballet Academy is proud to offer a variety of diverse Summer Camps for boys and girls ages 3-4, 5-6, and 7-9 for this upcoming summer. Details and registration will be available online in February.
Regularly scheduled classes will not take place on the following dates:

• February 27–March 2, 2019
Colorado Ballet Academy (CBA) has been invited to perform at the Gala! Students will showcase Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) ensemble Carmen Suite, choreographed by CBA Director Erica Fischbach. Forty-three students in Levels 3 through the Pre-Professional Division are featured in the piece, which will compete at the regional YAGP for a chance to be invited to the finals in NYC. This is an incredible opportunity for the Academy, and the students are thrilled to perform on the Ellie stage for this very special audience.
Join us for an enchanting evening in the Land of Oz, the likes of which you’ve never seen. Enjoy cocktails along the Yellow Brick Road, a fantastical excerpt from the much-anticipated premiere of The Wizard of Oz by renowned choreographer Septime Webre, an auction of luxury items and an opulent meal in the elegant Emerald City. Finally, click your heels together as you finish the evening with dancing on the Ellie Stage.
In December, we were treated to an amazing piece choreographed for our Pre-Professional dancers by Daniel Zook. The piece featured the creative use of lighting and technology fused together to give the dancers a voice in their piece. Thank you to all of the dancers and choreographer for their hard work!
Our January Saturday Soirée will feature two works choreographed by Colorado Ballet Academy Instructors Edgar Page (Pre-Pro A) and Robert Sher-Machherndl (Pre-Pro B). Tickets are on sale now on the Academy performance page.
All students enrolled in Levels 1 through Pre-Professional Division will be performing Giselle on May 25 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Colorado Ballet Academy is thrilled to be able to teach the art of ballet to students through this classical masterpiece and perform in Denver’s most treasured theater!
