In partnership with UVA Arts, a multimedia celebration of the University with awe-inspiring projection mapping, performances featuring student, faculty and alumni from UVA and special guests Andra Day, Leslie Odom Jr., and the Goo Goo Dolls + so many more. A Historical Perspective to the Laying of the Cornerstone

A historical perspective talk on the laying of the cornerstone and masonic ceremony in 1817. Talk will also inlcude a brief history of Monroe Hill and Brown College. This event is free and open to the public.

Commemorating the laying of the cornerstone of the University, the Tribute features alumni, students, faculty, and staff providing perspectives on the history and future of the University, and will include the presentation of the bicentennial marker on the Lawn. This event is free and open to the public.

The University of Virginia in 100 Objects commemorates UVA’s Bicentennial. This exhibition is based on the book Mr. Jefferson’s Telescope. (UVA Press, 2017) Hear remarks by Mr. Jefferson’s Telescope author Brendan Wolfe. This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited, please plan to arrive early.

Memorial to Enslaved Laborers Exhibit

The Memorial to Enslaved Laborers is designed to commemorate the contributions of enslaved workers. UVA staff and members of the President’s Commission on Slavery and the University will be on hand to answer questions. This event is free and open to the public.

Using Thomas Jefferson’s founding of UVA as a starting point, historians weave together the founder’s ideas about the role of an educated citizenry in a democracy to discuss who has the ability to shape our country and how this group has changed with time. This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are FREE and will provide general admission seating.
