Dear DMPA Family,

Our goal has always been to bring people together, create a sense of connection and share the joy of the arts while fostering a sense of community. This mission hasn’t stopped, it’s just going to take on a new form for a little while.

We know everyone out there needs to feel connected now more than ever, so DMPA is launching #projectjoy. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing content that demonstrates the joy arts and culture can bring to our lives. This will take on many forms from playlists to listen to while you are working from home to family activities to keep little minds active while away from the classroom. We are currently spreading the joy on our social media channels and will be sending this newsletter weekly featuring some of our favorite activities.

We hope you will help us spread the joy and join the conversation online by sharing how the arts brighten your day using #projectjoy and tagging Des Moines Performing Arts. In the midst of the unknown, it is important to remember the power of the arts to unite us as a community and remember no one is alone.

Children age five and above are welcome to attend performances at Des Moines Performing Arts’ venues. Des Moines Performing Arts does not censor performances nor make any guarantees of show content. We encourage parents to use their discretion when deciding if a show is appropriate for their child.

Children under the age of five are welcome to attend the Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Family Series performances and other family friendly presentations. Regardless of age, all children and infants require a ticket. Please call the Civic Center Ticket Office to ask if children under the age of five will be admitted into the theater before purchasing tickets to a performance. You can also visit DMPA.org for further information, including age recommendations, about the event.

Des Moines Performing Arts is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization presenting the performing arts to Iowa and the surrounding states. It is the presenter of major Broadway and educational touring companies, performers and groups, and is the performing home of many local and regional groups, including the Des Moines Symphony.
