Dear DMPA Family,
Our goal has always been to bring people together, create a sense of connection and share the joy of the arts while fostering a sense of community. This mission hasn’t stopped, it’s just going to take on a new form for a little while.
We
know everyone out there needs to feel connected now more than ever, so DMPA is
launching #projectjoy. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing
content that demonstrates the joy arts and culture can bring to our
lives. This will take on many forms from playlists to listen to while you
are working from home to family activities to keep little minds active while
away from the classroom. We are currently spreading the joy on our social
media channels and will be sending this newsletter weekly featuring some of our
favorite activities.
We hope you will help us spread the joy and join the conversation online by sharing how the arts brighten your day using #projectjoy and tagging Des Moines Performing Arts. In the midst of the unknown, it is important to remember the power of the arts to unite us as a community and remember no one is alone.

Need
some new tunes while working from home?
Check out our Spotify playlist,
featuring a selection of songs from each production in the series and the
add-ons!
Binge watching the same series for a second (or
third time)?
Refresh your list with 15 Broadway plays and musicals on stage you
can watch from home courtesy of our friends at Playbill.
Check out resources and activities from our Education Team as part of our new DMPA AT HOME initiative. Each week, we’ll be adding activities for young learners, inviting you to explore featured artists that have performed on DMPA stages.
Our stages may be dark right now, but your “home” stage isn’t! Make a recording of you or your family performing a cover of one of your favorite show tunes. Share on social media using #ProjectJoy and you could be featured in a future newsletter!
The content we will be sharing in this newsletter and online is just a small way we can show our gratitude during this time. We are so thankful for our loyal Donors and audiences. Your support and advocacy ensures that we will come back just as strong and continue our mission of uniting our communities through performance when the time is right. For now, enjoy this message from James Cordon with a special performance from Ben Platt and the cast of DEAR EVAN HANSEN.
