Five accomplished, early-career artists have joined Hubbard Street 2 for the ensemble’s 17th anniversary season.

On Monday, August 25, dancers Zachary Enquist and Elliot Hammans joined Jules Joseph, Katie Kozul, Andrea Thompson and promoted HS2 Apprentice Adrienne Lipson as full company members of Hubbard Street 2. Katlin Michael Bourgeois, Natalie Leibert and Megan Myers began their HS2 Apprenticeships.

These talented young artists — who hail from both coasts, Canada, Minnesota, Louisiana and points between — dove right into the creative process for our groundbreaking collaboration with The Second City. In the coming weeks they’ll also learn a wide range of recent Hubbard Street 2 repertoire and begin working with Chicago’s own Victor Alexander, one of three choreographers selected through our International Commissioning Project.

December 16 at 5:30pm, we’ll celebrate the IC Project’s 15th successful year of fostering new work, with a special program at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance. Save the date to see the three latest — of more than 40 total — pieces generated through this unique program. Stay tuned for more updates from Hubbard Street 2 and read more about the new group at Dance Studio Life.

Season 37 at Hubbard Street begins on the road.

Season 37 is big in Chicago, with four mainstage engagements of work by ten incredible choreographers — but first, we travel.

Our 2014–15 season — to which it’s not too late to subscribe! — includes more than 20 performances at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. But before we kick it all off this October with The Second City, we’re squeezing in a couple of trips. Tell your friends nearby about two exciting performances this month:

September 5 at 7pm, Hubbard Street performs PACOPEPEPLUTO by Resident Choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo at the Connor Palace Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio as part of PlayhouseSquare’s Dance Showcase.

September 12 and 13 at 8pm, Hubbard Street performs Gnawa  by Nacho Duato at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, New York City. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance Company.

Congratulations to Hubbard Street alumna Robyn Mineko Williams!

On August 15, the Princess Grace Foundation–USA announced its full list of honorees and award winners. Among these esteemed artists are Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), David Hallberg of the Bolshoi Ballet, and Robyn Mineko Williams, 12-year member of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s main company and choreographer of RecallGrey Horses  and Fluence.

Williams’ Work in Progress Residency, supported by the Foundation, brings her to New York’s Baryshnikov Arts Center in spring 2015 and follows up her 2013 Princess Grace Award for Choreography.

Don’t forget: You can now book single tickets to  Princess Grace Awards: New Works at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago’s intimate Edlis Neeson Theater.

December 4–14, Hubbard Street performs Williams’ fourth original work for the company alongside a second Hubbard Street premiere by Victor Quijada, founding artistic director of Montréal’s genre-defying RUBBERBANDance Group; and the Season 37 debut of Counterpoint by Kyle Abraham, MacArthur Fellow and founding artistic director of Abraham.In.Motion.
